TCL CSOT t8 project officially starts construction

TCL CSOT t8 project officially started. The project is jointly funded and constructed by TCL CSOT, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, with a total investment amount of approximately RMB 29.5 billion. Guo Yonghang, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Sun Zhiyang, the mayor of Guangzhou, Li Dongsheng, founder and chairman of TCL, Wang Cheng, chief operating officer of TCL Technology, Zhao Jun, senior vice president of TCL Technology and CEO of TCL China Star, as well as provincial and municipal leaders at all levels and semiconductor display industry chain partners attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

t8 project opening ceremony

Landed in the Greater Bay Area to help my country seize the strategic commanding heights in the global new display industry competition

Zhao Jun, senior vice president of TCL Technology and CEO of TCL Huaxing, said that the T8 project is the world's first large-scale mass production of G8.6 generation printed OLED production line. It is the first time that a Chinese display company has the potential to surpass technology leadership and market dominance in the high-generation AMOLED field, achieving a key breakthrough from "following" to "running parallel" to "partial leadership". The project will also promote high-quality development and build "new productivity" for the display industry through the application of innovative technologies such as industrial robots, AI large models, new materials and new energy.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the regions with the most complete innovation elements and the most complete industrial chain in my country's electronic information industry. It has a deep integration ecological foundation of "industry, academia, research and application". TCL Huaxing has independent intellectual property rights and industrial ecological leadership in printed OLED technology, which can accelerate the construction of an open printed OLED ecosystem. The launch of the t8 project in Guangzhou will accelerate the implementation of upstream and downstream enterprise clusters such as key printing OLED materials, core equipment, and core components, forming a full industry chain ecosystem covering "materials-equipment-panels-terminals." At present, many of the world's leading material and equipment suppliers have confirmed that they will cooperate with TCL Huaxing to jointly promote the construction of printed OLED supporting systems.

12 years of deep technology development, providing global consumers with "China's best screen" with high quality and price ratio

Cao Weiran, director of TCL Huaxing's printing OLED center, said that TCL Huaxing has continued to invest in printing OLED technology for 12 years and achieved mass production with a long-term fighting spirit and persistence in technological innovation. Among them, the Wuhan G5.5 generation printed OLED production line (t12) has achieved mass production and product delivery starting in November 2024. The current production capacity is steadily climbing, providing reliable mass production experience support for the high-generation t8 project. Combined with the t8 project, the high-generation production capacity of printed OLED will be further expanded. The t8 project is designed to process approximately 22,500 glass substrates (2290mm×2620mm) per month, accelerating the promotion of printed OLED technology in the world.Large-scale implementation of the high-end market. Printed OLED products will be prioritized for use in medium-sized fields such as monitors, laptops, and tablets, and will be expanded to more high-value-added display application scenarios in the future.

Guan Wei, senior vice president of Lenovo Group and head of global supply chain, said that the t8 project will not only provide Lenovo with more competitive display solutions, but will also help China's display technology achieve an outstanding leap from "following" to "partially leading" on the global stage. We look forward to further realizing global resource sharing and complementary advantages, working together to create future-oriented high-end display products, pushing the global display industry into a new stage of development, and jointly realizing a truly mutually beneficial and win-win new industrial ecosystem.

Prof. Sir Richard Henry Friend, founder of solution-based OLED and research director of the Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge, mentioned in his blessing to TCL Huaxing: "The baton of printed OLED has been handed over to TCL Huaxing, and we are witnessing printed OLED entering a stage of brilliant success."

In the future, with the advancement of the t8 project, TCL Huaxing will further meet the large-scale mass production needs of the printed OLED full-size product family, provide the market with low blue light, stable wide color gamut, no color fringing, multi-screen homogeneous and same-color printed OLED display solutions, and also bring a higher quality "good screen" experience to global consumers.
