300 million yuan, Gu'an Yungu obtained 860 patent licenses from Hefei Visionox

On the evening of September 17, Visionox issued an announcement stating that the 36th meeting of the company's seventh board of directors reviewed and approved a resolution, agreeing that the company and its holding subsidiary Yungu Technology Co., Ltd. and its joint-stock company Hefei Visionox Technology Co., Ltd. would sign a "Technology Licensing Contract" to introduce a total of 860 AMOLED-related patents and proprietary technologies held by the other party, and the license fee was set at 300 million yuan.

According to the announcement, the licensed technology covers inventions, utility model patents, patent applications and proprietary technologies. The licensing method is an ordinary implementation license and the term is a long-term license. Visionox and Gu'an Yungu can use all technical data to manufacture, use and sell contract products, but they are not allowed to sublicense to third parties without authorization.

Gu'an Yungu is a holding subsidiary of the listed company Visionox. It is also the most important screen manufacturing base and main source of profit within the Visionox system. The company settled in Gu'an in 2016. The Gu'an production line it built is China's first 6th-generation fully flexible AMOLED production line. Its products cover application fields such as smartphones, smart wearables, VR displays, vehicle-mounted and professional displays. It has now developed into the largest flexible display panel production base in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Hefei Visionox is the main body of Hefei's 6th generation all-flexible AMOLED production line. The project has a total investment of 44 billion yuan and has realized product lighting at the end of 2020. Since then, the production capacity has continued to climb, and it is compatible with the production of various small and medium-sized flexible screens such as watches, tablet-like/folding mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.

Regarding this patent license, Visionox stated that Gu'an Yungu is promoting the technology upgrade of its display panel production line and plans to introduce cutting-edge technologies such as COE, Hybrid-TFT, and Tandem. The core technical know-how of these processes requires long-term accumulation of mass production operations, and it is difficult to develop it by ourselves in the short term.

Hefei Visionox's 6th generation fully flexible AMOLED production line has fully mastered the relevant production technology and process know-how, and its patent portfolio exactly matches Gu'an Yungu's upgrade route. Relevant technologies can achieve high brightness, low power consumption, low reflection, long life and thinness of the screen, which will help increase the added value and unit price of product technology and optimize the product structure.
