Kopin wins another large order for military Micro-LEDoS

This is also the first time that Kopin has implemented mass production application of Micro LED technology on combat aircraft.

It is reported that this batch of Micro The LED display is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2026 and will be used to replace the traditional HUD system of active combat aircraft. The upgraded display device can project high-resolution images directly in front of the pilot's field of vision, significantly improving situational awareness, flight safety and mission execution efficiency..

Kopin said that the Micro LED display delivered this time has passed flight certification and has high brightness and high dynamic adjustment capabilities. The peak brightness is as high as 1 million foot-lamberts (fL), which is about 100 times that of OLED displays. It can maintain clear visual effects under strong sunlight.

At the same time, the Micro LED microdisplay has a dimming range of more than 30,000:1 and can quickly switch between day and night tasks. In addition, it is reported that the display has an advanced backplane architecture design to ensure image uniformity, which can effectively eliminate motion artifacts and provide pilots with a stable and realistic display screen in high-speed maneuvers or complex environments.

In terms of power consumption, Kopin's Micro LED microdisplay technology is approximately five times more energy efficient than similar microdisplay technologies. Each display has a resolution of 4 million pixels and supports a refresh rate of 120 frames per second, achieving high brightness, low latency and high-fidelity display to meet the needs of high-performance fighters and other critical missions.
