Guoxian Technology releases 4.1-inch AR-HUD dedicated MiniLED PGU module

On October 9, Guoxian Technology launched a 4.1-inch AR-HUD dedicated Mini LED PGU module, which adopts a Fresnel lens array collimating optical architecture and combines self-developed zone dimming and image optimization algorithms to optimize the visibility, picture halo and power consumption of vehicle head-up displays in strong light environments.

According to Guoxian Technology, the module is equipped with 128 independent backlight partitions, with a backlight peak brightness of 1.2 million nits, a PGU module brightness of over 100,000 nits, a static contrast ratio of over 500,000:1, and a field of view greater than 15°. In terms of power consumption, the power consumption of the whole machine under all-white screen is less than 26W, and the conventional rated power consumption is less than 10W.

In terms of optical design, the module uses a Fresnel microlens array to collimate the Mini LED light source to improve light energy utilization and reduce the reliance of traditional optical structures on diaphragms. On this basis, 128-partition Local Dimming works together with the image optimization algorithm to adjust the backlight according to the light and dark distribution of the picture, reducing light leakage and the halo effect at the junction of light and dark.

Guoxian Technology stated that this product has passed the reliability verification of high and low temperature, vibration, humidity and heat, and sunlight load, and is mainly targeted at high-end new energy vehicles and intelligent driving-related applications.

Mini LED automotive applications are further extended

Guoxian Technology was established in 2006 and became a holding subsidiary of Triumph Technology in 2015. Its business covers TFT-LCD and Mini/Micro LED display products, and its application fields include consumer electronics, industrial control and automotive display.

In addition to HUD PGU, Guoxian Technology is also exploring vehicle display directions such as light field screens and aerial imaging. Among them, light field screens focus on long-distance imaging, while aerial imaging attempts to present images in the air to provide different display forms for cockpit information interaction. As car cockpits develop from traditional information display to multi-screen and intelligent, competition in vehicle displays has gradually extended to optical design, display effects and system integration capabilities.

The launch of AR-HUD dedicated PGU module is another layout of Guoxian Technology to extend Mini LED technology to automotive display scenarios.

AR-HUD can combine navigation information, lane guidance and driving assistance prompts with the real road environment, reducing the driver's need to switch his sight between the road and the instrument. As the virtual image distance, field of view angle and amount of displayed information increase, PGU not only needs to have higher brightness, but also takes into account contrast, optical efficiency and overall power consumption.

According to reports, traditional TFT-LCD backlight solutions have certain limitations in terms of brightness improvement and zoned light control, while DLP involves cost and supply chain considerations of dedicated chips and optical systems. Mini LED provides another implementation path to increase PGU brightness and improve black point performance through dense light source configuration and zone dimming. This time, Guoxian Technology adopted a solution that combines Fresnel lens array and zone dimming to optimize light energy utilization, picture quality and module volume.

MLED-related manufacturers are actively deploying automotive HUD

Since this year, other manufacturers are also promoting high-brightness automotive HUD solutions.

For example, Tianma demonstrated a 43.7-inch ultra-wide Mini LED IRIS HUD and an 11.98-inch high-brightness PGU solution at CES 2026, exploring the applications of wide-format displays and high-brightness image sources respectively.

Magneti Marelli demonstrated the HorizonView solution using Mini LED full-array local dimming PGU, trying to achieve a 44.8-inch continuous display at the bottom of the front windshield.

TCL Huaxing demonstrated a 4.6-inch Micro LED AR-HUD solution at Display Week 2026, further expanding the application of self-luminous display technology in vehicle head-up displays.

It can be seen from the above layout that vehicle-mounted display is an application scenario actively developed by MLED manufacturers, and more and more products have been launched in recent years. As for the implementation of industrialization, related products need to be combined with mass production costs, vehicle specification reliability and vehicle model introduction progress to further transform technological achievements into product applications.
