On May 16, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the "International Light Day", the "Chasing Light and Chasing Dreams" Optoelectronic Information Education Community for Colleges and Universities in the New Era was established at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. This is the first education community in the field of optoelectronic information in my country.

The community consists of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and 89 universities including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, and National University of Defense Technology; 33 scientific research institutions including the Changguang Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China 717th Institute of Shipbuilding, China 205th Ordnance Institute, China 11th Institute of Electrical Engineering, and Pengcheng Laboratory; and 65 enterprises including Huawei, China Electronics, ZTE, Huagong Technology, and YOFC. Jointly initiated by six industry associations, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association, it faces the development needs of the optoelectronic information industry, adheres to the education concept of "ideological and political guidance, value shaping, industry-education collaboration, and innovation empowerment", deeply integrates the discipline chain, industry chain, and innovation chain, gives full play to the resource advantages of industry-specific universities, scientific research institutes, and enterprises, and creates a new paradigm for cultivating optoelectronic information talents.

The community plans to implement ten major "Chasing Light and Chasing Dreams" joint education actions, namely the "Optoelectronics Casting Soul" ideological and political education action, "Optoelectronics Building Dreams" social practice education action, "Optoelectronics Set sail" science popularization service education action, "Optoelectronics Spirit" cultural infiltration education action, "Optoelectronics House" resource gathering education action, and "Optoelectronics Creation Intelligence" scientific research empowerment The education action, the "Optoelectronics Leadership" course ideological and political education action, the "Optoelectronics Interconnection" industry-education integration education action, the "Optoelectronics Inheritance" concerted education action, and the "Glory Future" employment and talent education action are designed to provide the country with leading talents who have both a sense of family and country and the ability to tackle difficult problems in science and technology, and provide solid support for the country to achieve high-level technological self-reliance and self-reliance.
