67 new solar street lights have been installed in Guanpo Community, Wuyangba Street, Enshi City, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, illuminating a happy home

In Guanpo Community, due to limited coverage of lighting facilities, two remote residential areas and 13 units have been left unattended, resulting in missing or sparse street lights. For many years, residents have had difficulty traveling at night, posing safety hazards. In May 2025, the Enshi Ecological Environment Monitoring Center, a resident unit in the community, joined hands with the community to implement the "Lighting Up the Road Home" livelihood project. 67 solar street lights were lit up in the old alleys and courtyards, marking the end of countless long dark nights.

Grasp the urgency, difficulty, and sorrow, and keep your thoughts in your heart

Wufengshan Road Yixiang is a residential alley built along the mountain, inhabited by more than 20 households and nearly a hundred residents. Many years ago, led by veteran resident Yang Dahua, the residents in the alley raised funds and contributed to the construction of a flat cement road on the bumpy dirt road. The road has been repaired, but new troubles have arisen one after another - there are no streetlights.

Before, when I went home at night, I had to rely on the residual light of the urban area at the foot of the mountain, and every household had to prepare flashlights, "Yang Dahua sighed." There are many children studying in the alleys. They go out before dawn and come home in the dark without streetlights. Safety has always been the most worrying thing for everyone

This kind of trouble is not only in mountain alleys. After the relocation of multiple units within the jurisdiction, the remaining dormitory areas also suffer from lack of lighting and numerous hidden dangers. In the PICC Property and Casualty Insurance dormitory, He Chenghui, an elderly person who has lived there for many years, is accustomed to taking a walk every night. As he grows older, he becomes more careful step by step: "Now that he is old, he cannot fall

The voice of the masses is the starting point of community work. In order to solve this urgent and difficult problem, the "two committees" of the community and the resident community work team, together with the state ecological environment monitoring center, formed a special working group to conduct night field surveys and home visits in small alleys and communities, marking lighting blind spots one by one and recording public complaints. A "light up the way home" livelihood action was launched, marking the beginning of the campaign.

In two alleys, community officials and residents surveyed and repeatedly calibrated the points one by one. "Moving half a meter here can not only illuminate the steps, but also not block pedestrian traffic. Neighborhoods take the initiative to clear weeds, move miscellaneous items, and vacate the space. Many elderly people spontaneously become "volunteer supervisors", visiting the site every day to check progress and quality. At the pedestrian dormitory in the state, Wang Jun and his old neighbors took the initiative to hold hands, handing over tools and holding lamp posts. The neighbors were united and full of enthusiasm.

The work team of the Ecological Environment Monitoring Center has always adhered to the front line of construction, following up on the construction progress every day, coordinating construction materials, coordinating with construction personnel, listening to residents' demands, answering questions, and working side by side with community workers and residents to fully promote the implementation and effectiveness of the project.

The originally planned construction period of 30 days was efficiently completed and successfully lit up in just 16 days with the concerted efforts of the community, insurance units, and residents.

As dusk falls, 67 street lamps light up synchronously, and warm light penetrates the night, illuminating our homes. Nowadays, the nights in these old alleys and courtyards are even more lively: residents who return late walk calmly and no longer carry flashlights; Neighbors leisurely stroll and chat about daily life; The children carried backpacks and walked together, feeling secure and at ease.
