Amazon signs multibillion-dollar fiber optic supply deal with Corning

As the construction of AI computing infrastructure continues to heat up, the demand for high-speed optical connections in data centers is growing rapidly. Yesterday, Amazon and Corning jointly announced the signing of a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar cooperation agreement. Corning will provide optical fiber, optical cable and connection solutions to Amazon’s US data centers to provide material support for Amazon’s expanding cloud computing and AI infrastructure construction needs.

Under the agreement, Corning will expand its manufacturing capacity in North Carolina. Related investments are expected to create 1,000 new advanced manufacturing jobs and support hundreds of jobs related to facility expansion. At the same time, the two parties will jointly promote the optical fiber technology talent training plan, expand the optical fiber technician training program, reserve talents for optical fiber manufacturing and related technical positions, and further strengthen the domestic optical communication supply chain capabilities in the United States.
